Health & nutrition

At Bernard Matthews Foodservice we are confident that turkey
is one of the healthiest meats available however to make sure
we’re not plumping our feathers without good reason we asked
Dr Carrie Ruxton, independent dietician and public health
nutritionist, for her opinion.

the verdict?

Succulent skinless turkey breast is low in fat and saturated fat, yet tastes great and is versatile enough to serve in a variety of ways, whether you dish up a roast, pasta bake, kebab, wrap or sandwich, turkey can be the main ingredient.

Children love variety, particularly foods that bring colour, easy to chew textures, and simple tastes. With its mild flavour, turkey is particularly suitable for children’s meals yet you can serve it with the confidence that it is an integral part of a health diet.

Schools can help children to eat more healthily and to maintain a healthy weight by providing foods which are low in fat but rich in nutrients. Turkey is a great example of such a food. Providing only 156 calories per 100g portion of breast meat, turkey breast is low in fat and saturated fat, rich in protein and other key vitamins & minerals.
